Title: Investigating the Electronic Properties of 2D Quantum Heterostructures via multimodal spectroscopic techniques.

Abstract: Two-dimensional (2D) heterostructures composed of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) and graphene have unique electronic properties, making them promising candidates for optoelectronic devices and quantum technologies. In this seminar, the electronic properties of a number of 2D heterostructures, studied via angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), time-resolved optical spectroscopy, scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM/STS) will be presented. The system of interests, each one with its own peculiarity, are: WS2-WSe2, displaying anomalous exciton diffusion property at low temperature where the moiré physics plays a crucial role. WS2-Graphene, where artificially generated linear defects exhibit exotic excitation. These findings provide important insights into the fundamental physics of 2D heterostructures and have potential applications in the development of new electronic devices and quantum technologies. Our work demonstrates the power of spectroscopic techniques in investigating the properties of 2D heterostructures and highlights the importance of understanding their electronic behavior.
